This time around Danner Boots asked us to deliver a series of short videos highlighting their flagship fall boot, the Logger 917. In contrast to previous projects filmed in the wilderness, they requested an urban piece that could relate to a 9-5er and someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty.

Charles Danner came to Oregon in 1936 to make durable, high-quality boots for Pacific Northwest loggers. Inspired by those first caulked logger boots, the Logger 917 updates a heritage design with modern comfort and performance. The full-grain leather upper is cut from a pattern that's a reinterpretation of the original. An optional GORE-TEX shrugs off rain, snow and monster puddles. A removable lace kiltie gives you an extra layer of protection on the top of the boot, so mud and debris won't get trapped between the laces. The Vibram® SPE midsole and Vibram® 917 outsole offer long-lasting comfort and reliable grip no matter where you spend your days.

We appreciate Danner’s desire to partner their product campaigns with real people. This one was special as we got to team up with old friends Han and Ryan at Same Old Studio. Wizards in the wood shop, they let us in to their world and try weird things with cameras.

For this piece pre-production was key. When transitions and authenticity are valued, the creative needs to be carefully thought out, thus we spent more time planning than shooting to ensure the correct vision came to life.
